Some pdl group sent my husband a statement saying "in light of tax season, you may pay $332.89 on your account of $972.70." My husband doesn't even owe anyone! I looked them up and it looks and smells like a scam. He settled his debt with capitol one and owes nothing. What is going on? Did they check his credit report and see something from cap. one? Thank you.

He needs to ask for proof of the debt ....and basically tell them to get lost!!

AR, AZ, CT, GA, ME, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, PA, VT AND DC
OH AND NH have very restrictive low cost interest rate laws.

When did settle his debt with Capital One? Any idea? Your husband has to pay tax on the forgiven amount. But he should pay the tax only after receiving the 1099C form.
