plain green help- California

I have a loan from Plain Green. I have learned from this site that they are illegal in Ca. I revoked ACH payment a month ago as my income was impacted from covid so I am behind in payments. Since, I found this site I am now aware I only need to pay my remaining principal payment of $230. On 6/9 I sent them an email with a letter I found on this site stating that they are an illegal lender in my state and that I am only morally obligated to repay the principal amount and I specified how and when I would repay the principal. The next day I received an email back stating they were going to send me to collections since they have been unable to reach me . I responded back to that email the same day by copying and pasting my previous email to them. I just received the response below and I am not sure if I should just resend my previous email again as response or if I need to respond differently. Any thoughts?

Plain Green has now sold my account to Northwood Asset Management, I guess they didn’t like my offer to pay only the principle. How do I deal with this collection agency to keep them from harassing everyone I know ?

You just need to repay the principal amount. If they still bnother you, make a complaint to your State's Attorney General.

Read their letter. This is the standard letter that they send usually. It is true that you have signed the loan agreement. However, it is equally true that when you have signed the loan agreement, you didn't know the actual law. So, their argument is not valid. No matter what they say, you're only required to pay the principal amount. That's all. Send them a reply that you're not going to pay a penny for the interest.
