I received a payday loan from Western Sky but they sold the account to Cash Call -- I was told that Cash Call is not a payday lender but is backed by a bank, so the loan is not illegal (I live in GA) and I have to pay back the loan plus all the high fees -- is this true even though the original loan was thru a payday loan company???

Payday lending is prohibited in GA. So all the payday lenders in your state are illegal. You can get rid of the debt by paying them only the principal amount. Illegal lenders won’t be able to take any legal action against you. If you have paid them more than the principal amount, then ask them for the refund. Close your bank account asap so that they can’t debit money from your account in future. I hope the following link may help you to know how to deal with illegal lenders:

Your loan was ORIGINATED by Western Sky....so it is a PDL....an illegal tribal lender at that.  On top of that, PDL's are ILLEGAL in GA.  You only have to pay the principal....regardless of what they say.
