I need advice on a Payday lender- Atlas Money Onli

I need advice on a Payday lender- Atlas Money Online. They have turned me over to an Agency called The Capital Legal. I received a phone call at work threatening me to serve me papers at work for a pay day loan in 2010 that I defaulted on because I lost my job. Can you tell me if Atlas Money Online is licensed in the state of Indiana? I would appreciate any assistance. I am losing a lot of sleep over this and before I make any arrangements with them I need to know if they can even sue me? Thanks!

I use Town and Country for loans of that type and now I just owe one (1) lender.

Their number is listed below.

If the pdl lender is not licensed to operate in your state, then you are required to pay only the principal amount. Illegal payday lenders don’t have any right to take any legal action against you. To know more about how to deal with illegal payday lenders, glance through the following link:

Thank you for the information.  I contacted the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions and spoke with Dave.  He was very helpful.  Atlas Money Online is not licensed in the state of Indiana and he informed me that all internet loans in Indiana are illegal.

You need to contact the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions in order to find out whether or not your payday lender is licensed to operate in your state. If they are licensed to operate in your state, then they can sue you for the delinquent debt.
