Was served a summons and request for admissions at my previous address. the people accepted for whatever reason. is this a proper/legal service considering it was not delivered to myself or a direct family member, not to mention an address that I haven't lived at in over a year? also if so what is my next move(I still have time to reply/deny to court)

Do what Soaplady has suggested. You need to answer the summons. Otherwise, the case may go against you.

Why on earth did they accept the summons??

You will need to notify the court that you were not served properly....and they will probably end up serving you at your new address pretty quick.

What type of debt?  Do you have adequate defenses to avoid a judgment?
