Should I go ahead with the debt management program?

There was a wage reduction in the month of September 2011. I was not able to make payments on the credit cards. Some accounts have been charged off. There are high chances of getting sued. An attorney told me that I can qualify Chapter 13 bankruptcy. He told this after analyzing my income. He told that I’ll have to pay around $600 every month for 3 years.

I was thinking in another direction. I was thinking of enrolling into the debt management program and keep the accounts open. The attorney was telling that all my accounts will be closed after filing bankruptcy. I want to keep the accounts open. So, should I go ahead with the debt management program?

Then what should I do? Should I go for bankruptcy then?

You enter into a debt management program and any open accounts will be closed.  That is a requirement of a debt management program.
