Old unpaid judgments

Hi there… my cousin has 2 unpaid judgments. These judgments are all more than 12 years old. These are not showing on my cousin’s credit report. Now he wants to apply for a credit card. Will the creditors going to run a public record search as well as a credit report? And will these unpaid judgments cause problems for him?

Unpaid judgments may create problems if the creditors run a public record search. However, creditors normally don't do it. Your cousin can take a chance.

In some states, judgments last up to 20 years if renewed. Yeah, they could cause problems.
