My husband went to the doc and he advised him he should do a colonoscopy because of his age. A questionnaire was sent to him to fill out ahead of time. He answered all health questions. After the procedure, we got a bill that the insurance did not cover because my husband is the one who wanted it done. I called the office explained this is a mistake to have the doc use the right code and re-send another claim. They refuse and now the debt collectors call every day. What can I do?

Ok....your doctors office made the insurance billing mistake??  Do they want to get paid?  I would highly recommend talking to the doctor and anyone else higher up in that office.  As for the collection agency, cease and desist them...you have a legitimate dispute.

I dispute the validity of this debt.  Your client submited the wrong insurance code to my insurance company and now refuse to correct their mistake.  Do not contact me by any method ever again."

 

Send it certified mail return receipt requested.
