My husband and I are looking to use our tax return

My husband and I are looking to use our tax return to pay off our credit card debt and one of his student loans. They are all in collections at this point in time. I was wondering who I would contact to see about getting the amounts that we owe lower so that we can pay them all off. If we do it on our own I know that we wont get the credit card companies down as low as an agent would. but I don't know what agent I would look to. We currently have about 5,000-7,000 in debt and will have about 3,000-4,000 in our tax refund to pay it all off. I don't know if it's even possible. So you have any advice?

If his student loan is a federal one and in default, dont expect to get your return back.....it will be offset.

If you do wish to settle, do your research and do it yourself!!  It is not difficult!
