I have contacted an attorney and am on the brink of filing chapter 7. I really do not want to do that. I recently received a nice bonus and took out a loan on my 401K and settled with numerous unsecured creditors to try and keep from filing. My funds are exhausted and I still have 3 creditors left to settle with. What should I do so I do not get wages attached? Contact a debt settlement company or try and get a debt consolidation? Do I pay them each $100 a month to stay off my back until I get the money? Any advice would help!

If you decide to file bankruptcy now, any payments over $600 made recently to settle with your creditors will have to be refunded back to you.  Those funds will be under control of the trustee.

If these creditors at threatening to file against you, a debt management plan wont be able to stop it.
