I am unemployed and creditors have filed lawsuit against me

I am without any job for the last 2 years. I am just about to get Social Security Disability. My creditor has filed a lawsuit against me. What should I do now? I can’t afford to pay off the debt?

If it’s not possible for you to get help from your family members, then you may try to convince your creditors. Inform them about your financial hardship. I hope they will understand your situation.

Thanks for the reply. The total debt amount is $20,000. I don't think my family members will give me a loan. What can I do in this situation?

You may try to get help from your friends and family members. Don’t worry they can’t garnish your social security benefit because this is exempted from garnishment.
