Is this a student loan issue?  Even student loans cannot garnish unemployment benefits.  More information would be helpful.

FYI... federal student loans CAN garnish without a court order.

PDL's are ILLEGAL in the following states...
AR, AZ, CT, GA, ME, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, PA, VT AND DC
OH AND NH have very restrictive low cost interest rate laws.

You may follow the previous poster and take a small loan to pay off your rent, but then you need to sort things out before it gets too late. Try and prepare a budget in order to identify the area where you might be over-spending. You will have an idea once you list all your regular expenses, and then try to identify the ones that you may do without each month. That way, you may end up saving a few more bucks to pay your rent in time.

They can't possibly garnish anything without securing a judgment against you. Any way, unemployment benefits are exempt from garnishment. At least, this is what I know. Can't you take a small loan from your friend this month to pay the rent? You can always return it later. It does take a few days to review a case.
