Hi, I lived in the state of TN and borrowed a few pay day loans to finish school. Cash advance has debt collecters threatening me to go jail. It's been 4 years and did not pay becuase I was unemployed for 2 years after school. Is this legal to send someone to jail for a cash advance loan?

You can file a complaint against them to the State Attorney General or Federal Trade Commission.

You can never go to jail for debts. It is not allowed in any state. The debt collectors are lying. They have violated the FDCPA laws.

You're not supposed to go to jail for owing debt as debts are civil and not criminal. However, you didn't do a good job by taking out payday loans for completing your education. Anyway, now that you 're already in the trap, look for ways of repaying them through some professional debt relief option.
