Hello, Thanks for making yourself available to he

Thanks for making yourself available to help. My credit score is 567, I only owe about $1800, but they are very old. I am trying to get a home loan and need to raise my score quickly. Do you think it would be better for me to just pay off the debt or to try and have a credit repair company help? Thanks in advance for your response.

If you want to improve your credit score, then you will have to repay your debts on time. This is because late payments may hurt your credit score by 35%. Once you start making payments on time, your credit score goes up gradually with time. You also need to add some positive information on your credit report.

Have you attempted to have any of your old delinquent accounts deleted from your credit reports? This would be a good start. But, as far as the $1,800.00 you owe, if they have been actively attempting collection there's a good chance you won't be able to have this deleted; therefore, I suggesgt paying it off. The zero balance will definitely increase your credit score.

Best of luck to you!
