A verbal settlement was agreed on but due to mail time the payment was late by three days. They now refuse to accept payment as settlement and are asking for more money. I am besides me this was $33,160.00 that was paid off.
You have done a big mistake by not making a written agreement. The main problem of verbal agreement is that it is not legally binding. You can't prove anything now. They can refuse to accept payments now.
Verbal settlement will not hold much ground. It would have been better if you could have signed a written agreement with them. As the time has passed, they have the rights to refuse the payments. You should once again try to negotiate with them for debt settlement and check out if they agree to it.
