I have approx. 10,000$ in debt from chase credit c
I have approx. 10,000$ in debt from chase credit card, that is now in collections. They have been calling for about 2 months, yet I have not yet responded to any calls. I am now ready to try and resolve this. I just want to know the correct method of beginning. How do I confirm that the creditor has validated my debt? and then how do I go about setting up a payment plan?
Thanks very much for any insight u may have!!
Once the debt has been validated by the CA, try to set up a payment plan with them. Calculate how much you can pay and tell the collector about this. Make sure you don't pay a dime without a written agreement.

Nope...once assigned to a CA, you must work with that agency. You can call chase to verify assignment but anything past that, you will have to work out with the CA.

PDL's are ILLEGAL in the following states...
AR, AZ, CT, GA, ME, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, PA, VT AND DC
OH AND NH have very restrictive low cost interest rate laws.
SOL for all states

I've seen some people saying I could attempt to contact Chase; the original Creditor, and attempt to bypass the CA , assuming this debt has only been assigned, and not sold. Is this worth a shot first?
Thanks!

You can’t send a debt validation letter to your creditor, you will have to send them a debt verification letter. At first you can contact with the collection agency and ask them to validate the debt. If they give you a valid proof, then try to set up a payment arrangement with them.
